Case study: condition assessment on a major roading renewal
How DIS surveyed and graded several kilometres of gravity stormwater pipe to help a main contractor prioritise renewals — without a single excavation.
When a main contractor needed to understand the true condition of an ageing stormwater network ahead of a roading renewal, they turned to DIS.
Over the course of the programme, our crews deployed motorised CCTV crawlers through several kilometres of gravity mainline, capturing high-resolution video and coded observations at every defect. Push-rod cameras handled the tighter laterals and house connections that a crawler can't reach.
The result was a prioritised condition report — structural and service grades, imagery and clear recommendations — that let the client target renewal spend where it mattered most, and defer work where pipes still had plenty of life. No exploratory digging, no disruption to live services.
